MONROE, La. (AP) - A Monroe man has been convicted in the beating and stabbing death of another man in 2008.
The News-Star reports that a jury in Monroe convicted Lavern "Pee Wee" Hampton of second-degree murder on Friday. The crime carries a mandatory life sentence.
The victim was 58-year-old Otis King, who was killed on Aug. 14, 2008, in front of a Monroe house. According to testimony, Hampton had argued earlier in the day with his ex-girlfriend. King defended the woman, leading to a disagreement with Hampton.
