NEW ORLEANS – The New Orleans Police Department is investigating the stabbing death of a 21-year-old man in the Holy Cross neighborhood, according to spokeswoman Officer Shereese Harper.
Around 12 p.m. Saturday, police were called to the 5400 block of Royal Street, finding the victim inside a home with a stab wound, according to police.
“According to investigators,” said Harper in an e-mail, “Fifth District officers responded to a call of a “stabbing” and upon their arrival, located the victim lying inside of a residence suffering from an apparent stab wound to his body. Emergency medical technicians transported the victim to a local hospital where he later died.”
According to police, the victim and his girlfriend had been involved in a domestic dispute, which ended with the man being stabbed. So far, no charges have been filed against the girlfriend, though the police investigation is ongoing.
Anyone with additional information is asked to Crimestoppers at 504-822-1111.
A compilation of daily news articles from around the United States about deaths (including both people and animals) that appear to occur in the context of a past or present intimate relationship, focusing on 2009-present. (NOTE: this blog is limited to incidents that appear in the media and are captured by our search terms. We recognize this is not an exhaustive portrayal of all deaths resulting from intimate violence.) When is society going to realize intimate violence makes victims of us all?
