JACKSON, Miss. (AP) - A Jackson police officer on the force for only two months has been shot to death.
Authorities blame Friday night's death of 31-year-old Glen Agee on a prisoner who fled from a patrol car. Police say that the prisoner was being taken to jail on aggravated assault and domestic violence charges when he got away from two officers.
Investigators say the man fled into woods and two officers, including Agee, pursued him. Coroner Sharon Grisham-Stewart says Agee sustained two gunshot wounds to the face. The other officer escaped injury.
The escaped prisoner was caught about 45 minutes later.
Prior to coming to the Jackson Police Department, Agee had been a police officer at Jackson State University.
A compilation of daily news articles from around the United States about deaths (including both people and animals) that appear to occur in the context of a past or present intimate relationship, focusing on 2009-present. (NOTE: this blog is limited to incidents that appear in the media and are captured by our search terms. We recognize this is not an exhaustive portrayal of all deaths resulting from intimate violence.) When is society going to realize intimate violence makes victims of us all?
