MERCED, Calif. (KFSN) -- Atwater Police are investigating a murder-suicide that happened less than two hours after the suspect bailed out of jail on domestic violence charges.
Police arrested Pedro Serna Wednesday night for spousal abuse, rape and false imprisonment. He bailed out on Friday at 9:00 p.m. By 11:00 p.m., he had tracked down his wife at their daughter's apartment. Neighbors heard an argument and called 911.
Neighbor: "Like 40 seconds after that, I heard a gunshot and then a minute after that, another gunshot. After that, it was just quiet, like eerie quiet."
Police got to the apartment within a minute, but both were already dead.
A compilation of daily news articles from around the United States about deaths (including both people and animals) that appear to occur in the context of a past or present intimate relationship, focusing on 2009-present. (NOTE: this blog is limited to incidents that appear in the media and are captured by our search terms. We recognize this is not an exhaustive portrayal of all deaths resulting from intimate violence.) When is society going to realize intimate violence makes victims of us all?
