VOLUSIA COUNTY, FLA. — Detectives were on the scene Tuesday afternoon of a double-murder suicide in Deltona. Investigators say a man shot and killed his ex-girlfriend and her new husband, and then himself.
Friends of the couple said they had just celebrated their one-year wedding anniversary in April.
Officers said Johnnie Burke, 51, shot and killed 48-year-old Charles Whitaker and 46-year-old Robin Whitaker.
Investigators say Burke drove to the couple's house on the 2500 block of Otis Avenue Tuesday morning and shot both of them outside of the home. Burke's home was only one block away.
Two semi-automatic pistols were found at the scene.
