A Long Island man fatally shot his daughter and mother-in-law and critically injured his estranged wife before killing himself Friday in an apparent murder-suicide sparked by an impending divorce, police said.
Police said they found Mohamed Shojaeifard, 49, and his 65-year-old mother-in-law, Batool Biraman, dead from shotgun blasts in the small white house on Elm St. in Roslyn Heights.
Shojaeifard's wife, Haleh Mohseni, 40, and his daughter, Mandana Shojaeifard, 17 were taken to the hospital, where the girl died, police said.
Mohseni underwent surgery and was in critical condition late yesterday, but she's expected to live.
The couple split about a year ago and were in the process of divorcing, said Nassau County Detective Lt. Richard Laursen.
Neighbors said the husband showed up at the house in the morning after a moving truck arrived and an argument erupted.
The husband left but soon returned with a shotgun.
The massacre shocked Miguel Minguez, 30, who lives in the same apartment building on Edwards St. as the husband.
"He seemed like he was okay. The only time he was depressed was when he spoke about his daughter. She played violin and was set to go to college, and it made him lonely that she was with her mother and not him," he said.
