Charges are pending against a Pamplin man after he allegedly shot and killed his wife and another man before shooting and injuring himself.
According to Prince Edward County investigators, John Carter, 52, shot and killed his wife Sheila Carter and 35-year-old Mandel Jones outside of New Fever nightclub in Farmville early Monday morning.
Officers arrived on scene to find John Carter in his car, still armed. When asked to exit the vehicle, Carter shot himself in the face. He was transported to VCU Medical Center, where he remains in critical condition.
The two victims were pronounced dead on scene.
Police did not comment on a possible motive. The case remains under investigation.
