A Charlotte-area woman has been arrested after she allegedly killed a woman outside a mobile home near Concord Monday night during a fight over a man, witnesses and police said.
Dakota Castner, 22, was in Cabarrus County jail, charged with murder in connection with the incident on Untz Road around 8 p.m. Monday.
The victim was identified as 19-year-old Kadi Ann Paden.
Witnesses at the scene told the Observer's news partner, WCNC-TV, that Castner and the victim got into a fight over a man the two had been dating.
Castner pulled out a knife and stabbed Paden in the neck during the fight, according to witnesses. Deputies apparently arrested Castner around 3 a.m. near the crime scene after spending several hours searching for her. Authorities believe Castner is from the Charlotte area, but was living at the mobile home off of Untz Road for the last couple of weeks.
A compilation of daily news articles from around the United States about deaths (including both people and animals) that appear to occur in the context of a past or present intimate relationship, focusing on 2009-present. (NOTE: this blog is limited to incidents that appear in the media and are captured by our search terms. We recognize this is not an exhaustive portrayal of all deaths resulting from intimate violence.) When is society going to realize intimate violence makes victims of us all?
