BAKER, LA (WAFB) -
A woman is dead after she was shot Saturday, allegedly by her girlfriend.
The Baker Police Department said a call from the victim to the station around noon indicated her girlfriend was at her home and would not leave.
Officers arrived at the home on Sandy Drive to find the caller dead from several gunshot wounds.
Detectives said they took the other woman into custody.
Police Chief Mike Knaps said there was some history of the couple having problems.
"There was a protective order issued back in November," Knaps said. "We're trying to get some history on that and see what types of things have happened here in the past."
Police have not released any names.
Authorities are still investigating the shooting and what may have led up to it.

We recognize this is not an exhaustive portrayal of all deaths resulting from intimate violence.) When is society going to realize intimate violence makes victims of us all?
