Putnamville, IN: Police Shoot Domestic Dispute Suspect
Indiana State Police say that an officer was involved in a shooting late Sunday night after responding to the scene of a domestic dispute near Putnamville by County Road 1050 Westand 300 South. The suspect has been identified as 38 year old William Williams of Reelsville. Williams had barricaded himself inside the master bathroom of the house. He allegedly attacked the officer with a knife after exiting the bathroom. Williams continued his attack after an officer attempted to stun him with an electronic device. According to Sergeant Joe Watts of the Indiana State Police, officers opened fire on the suspect after the suspect had pinned an officer nearly to the floor. Williams was later pronounced dead at the scene. An officer was taken to a local hospital for treatment, but his injuries are not life threatening.
