The ex-boyfriend of a woman found slain on the side of a Washington County road was arraigned today on another set of charges unrelated to her death.
Jordan Clemons, 22, was sought by state police after the body of his ex-girlfriend, 21-year-old Karissa Kunco was found in Mt. Pleasant Township on Thursday, but has not been charged in her death. He was jailed on three separate warrants on $250,000 bond.
This morning, he was arraigned on a second set of charges of misdemeanor escape and flight to avoid apprehension, a felony.
Canonsburg police said officers were attempting to arrest him on a warrant that he assaulted Ms. Kunco in mid-December when he ran from them and jumped from the window of a second story apartment in the early morning hours of Jan. 9. An officer received a leg injury while unsuccessfully pursuing Mr. Clemons, said Detective Alexander Coghill of the Canonsburg police.
Last week, after he had been taken into custody by state police, he was arraigned on burglary and robbery charges after a woman reported that he broke into her home, held her at knife point and stole her purse on Jan. 8.
State police, who launched an intensive search for Mr. Clemons after Ms. Kunco's body was found, called him "a person of interest" on Friday. Trooper Joseph Christy, a spokesman, could not be reached for comment today.

A compilation of daily news articles from around the United States about deaths (including both people and animals) that appear to occur in the context of a past or present intimate relationship, focusing on 2009-present. (NOTE: this blog is limited to incidents that appear in the media and are captured by our search terms. We recognize this is not an exhaustive portrayal of all deaths resulting from intimate violence.) When is society going to realize intimate violence makes victims of us all?
