Uniontown, Pa. — Opening statements are slated Tuesday afternoon in the trial of a southwestern Pennsylvania man accused of having killed his wife by running her down with his car.
The Pittsburgh Tribune-Review (http://bit.ly/rFljL1 ) says a jury was seated Monday in Fayette County to hear the criminal homicide case against 47-year-old Ronald Higinbotham of Brownsville.
State police allege that he ran over 30-year-old Carmen Higinbotham on Route 40 in June 2009. Prosecutors say the two were having marital problems and friends said she planned to leave him.
Police said the defendant told them that he ran over his wife accidentally after she jumped from the moving car during an argument and he didn't stop to help her because he was afraid.
A compilation of daily news articles from around the United States about deaths (including both people and animals) that appear to occur in the context of a past or present intimate relationship, focusing on 2009-present. (NOTE: this blog is limited to incidents that appear in the media and are captured by our search terms. We recognize this is not an exhaustive portrayal of all deaths resulting from intimate violence.) When is society going to realize intimate violence makes victims of us all?
