CHICAGO — Authorities say a suburban Chicago man has been charged in the stabbing death of his 3-year-old son and assault on the child’s mother.
Twenty-seven-year-old Gregory Sandifer of Homewood was ordered held without bond Sunday. Chicago police say he’s been charged with first degree murder, aggravated domestic battery and criminal sexual assault.
Sandifer didn’t appear in court Sunday and couldn’t be reached for comment. He’s being hospitalized after authorities said he was injured from jumping from a porch at the scene of the crime on Chicago’s West Side.
Authorities allege Sandifer sexually assaulted and stabbed the child’s mother before pushing her out of the window. He then allegedly stabbed his son, Jaivon Sandifer, numerous times.
The boy was pronounced dead hours later a Chicago hospital. His death was ruled a homicide.
