Authorities described a shooting incident Wednesday afternoon in Hatton as an attempted murder-suicide stemming from a domestic dispute.
Lawrence County Sheriff Gene Mitchell said 55-year-old David Taylor shot and wounded his wife, Brenda Taylor, before fatally shooting himself. The incident took place at the Taylor's residence, located at 22072 Ala. 157 in the Hatton community.
Mitchell said Brenda Taylor placed a 911 call at 1:42 p.m. informing authorities of the shooting. Law enforcement agents arrived at the scene and made entry, finding David Taylor dead inside the residence.
Brenda Taylor was transported to Huntsville Hospital, but her injuries did not appear to be life-threatening, Mitchell said.
We will print additional updates as they become available and will have the full story in next week's print edition.
