Lebanon, OH: Ohio man retried in wife's tub drowning death

LEBANON, Ohio — The prosecutor in a man's retrial on charges of drowning his wife in the bathtub recounted circumstances he says point to the defendant's guilt.
Assistant Warren County Prosecutor Travis Vieux told jurors in opening statements Wednesday that witnesses will testify about alleged contradictions in 29-year-old Ryan Widmer's statements to authorities.
Vieux also said emergency rescuers found 24-year-old Sarah Widmer's body dry only minutes after the 911 call.
Defense attorney Jay Clark told jurors in the Lebanon trial that no one knows what happened. He suggested authorities rushed to judgment in labeling the death a homicide.
Widmer was convicted last year of killing his wife in their home near Mason in 2008. A judge set aside the conviction after allegations of juror misconduct during deliberations.
