MOSCOW — A North Idaho man accused of killing his pregnant wife and then setting the home on fire has been freed after posting a $200,000 bond.
A 2nd District judge set bail for Silas Parks last week, following a decision by Latah County prosecutors to not seek the death penalty in the case. Parks posted bond on Christmas Eve and made a court appearance in Latah County on Monday.
As part of his release, he is required to live with his parents, adhere to a 9 p.m. curfew and report to the jail every Monday and Friday, among other conditions.
Parks is charged with two counts of first-degree murder and one count of first-degree arson in connection with the June 24 death of his pregnant wife, 28-year-old Sarah J. Parks.
He has pleaded not guilty.
A compilation of daily news articles from around the United States about deaths (including both people and animals) that appear to occur in the context of a past or present intimate relationship, focusing on 2009-present. (NOTE: this blog is limited to incidents that appear in the media and are captured by our search terms. We recognize this is not an exhaustive portrayal of all deaths resulting from intimate violence.) When is society going to realize intimate violence makes victims of us all?
