TROY, N.Y. (AP) - An Albany-area woman has admitted she stabbed her former boyfriend to death on a sidewalk last year.
Kimberly Mayo originally told police she acted in self-defense when she stabbed 27-year-old Keith Levin in May 2008.
In Rensselaer County Court Tuesday, 38-year-old Mayo admitted she stabbed Levin in the chest. The two had dated, but their relationship soured. Mayo had damaged Levin's new girlfriend's car just before the two met on the sidewalk and began arguing that night.
Mayo was found at the scene covered in blood and told police she was helping a man someone else had stabbed before later changing her story.
Mayo will be sentenced to 10 years in prison later this month.
