Circuit Judge Roger Clark has sentenced 43-year-old Clyde Collins to 20 years for manslaughter in the fatal shooting of his ex-girlfriend.
Collins was charged with murder in the slaying of 35-year-old Amelia Young on Aug. 28, 2007. The only eyewitness in the case was shot to death in a nightclub five months ago.
Collins pleaded guilty to the lesser charge on Thursday. The judge gave him the maximum penalty.
Anthony McCord was the state's key witness against Collins. McCord was fatally shot on Easter Sunday in the Boiler Room lounge, which has since closed.
A compilation of daily news articles from around the United States about deaths (including both people and animals) that appear to occur in the context of a past or present intimate relationship, focusing on 2009-present. (NOTE: this blog is limited to incidents that appear in the media and are captured by our search terms.
