A male who was allegedly shot Monday evening by his father in a dispute at a Rancho Santa Fe home has died.
According to authorities, the shooting took place in a residence in the 17000 block of Via Recanto.
Sheriff's deputies and medics came to the residence around 6:30 p.m. Monday after the mother of the man who was shot called 911. The man was transported to Scripps Memorial Hospital, La Jolla, where he later died.
According to detectives on the scene, the son had broken into his parents' home and argued with them. He then allegedly choked his mother, and his father allegedly shot him in defending his wife.
