St. Louis husband charged with murder in stabbing of wife with 7 year old son present

By Associated Press6:42 AM CDT, March 31, 2009ST. LOUIS (AP) — A St. Louis man is charged with first-degree murder, armed criminal action and endangering the welfare of a child in the stabbing death of his wife.

William Owen is jailed on $1 million cash-only bond in the death of his 33-year-old wife, Paula Jo Jones.

The stabbing happened Sunday. Authorities say the two were riding in a car together, along with a 7-year-old boy identified in media reports as their son, when the suspect began to stab the victim. The knife was recovered at the scene. The boy is receiving counseling.

On March 19, Jones had been granted an order of protection against her husband.
