JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (AP) - Authorities say two East Tennessee sheriff's deputies shot and killed a Mountain City man after he fired at the deputies.
Johnson County Sheriff Mike Reece told WJHL-TV that the deputies were responding to a domestic violence complaint at the home of Marvin Bunting.
When the deputies entered the home, Reece said Bunting fired a revolver at the deputies and they fired back.
Bunting was pronounced dead at the home and an autopsy will be performed at the Quillen College of Medicine in Johnson City. No one else was hurt.
The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation has sent an investigator, which is standard procedure in officer-involved shootings. The two deputies, who were not identified, were placed on administrative leave.
