Charlotte-Mecklenburg police say a 28-year-old woman was shot and killed by her boyfriend late Wednesday in a home on Summerour Place before the man was apprehended on Sam Furr Road in Huntersville after a carjacking at Northlake Mall.
Pamela Garmon died of a gunshot wound in the home at 6221 Summerour Place, Charlotte-Mecklenburg police Officer R.D. Harrington said this morning.
Police found Garmon after responding to a neighbor's call of an assault with a deadly weapon at the home at 10:24 p.m., Harrington said.
At 10:41 p.m., Harrington said, police received a call of a carjacking at Northlake Mall by a man possibly armed with a rifle who fit the description of Garmon's boyfriend, Jamar Springs, 28.
The man ordered a driver out of a car at the mall and made the passenger in the vehicle ride with him, Harrington said. The car made it to Sam Furr Road and Old Statesville Road in Huntersville, where the assailant ran from the car. The passenger was released unharmed, Harrington said.
Police from various departments set up a perimeter and apprehended Springs without incident, Harrington said.
Police were interviewing Springs this morning and no charges had been announced by 6 a.m.
Police ask that anyone with information call Detective N. McKee at 704-432-TIPS (8477) or Crime Stoppers at 704-334-1600.
