FREDERICKSBURG, Texas -- Investigators are calling a shooting in Gillespie County a murder-suicide.
The Gillespie County Sheriff's Office received a call around 7:40 a.m. Monday saying someone had been shot at a home in the 1800 block of Reeh Road, northwest of Fredericksburg. When deputies arrived, they found a couple and their dog inside the home.
The woman, 55-year-old Becky Jill Gallegos, was found on the floor. She had been shot twice in the chest. Her husband, 62-year-old Fermin Juan Gallegos, was found on the living room couch with what investigators say was a self-inflicted gunshot wound to his head. The couple's dog was found on the couch beside him with a fatal gunshot wound. The gun, a .357 Magnum pistol, was also found on the couch beside Mr. Gallegos.
Becky Gallegos was pronounced dead at the scene. Her husband was airlifted to University Hospital in San Antonio, where he later died.
Gillespie County Sheriff's Department investigators believe Mr. Gallegos fatally shot his wife and their dog, called 911 to report the shooting, and then turned the gun on himself. They said the motive for the shooting appeared to stem from some sort of marital dispute.

We recognize this is not an exhaustive portrayal of all deaths resulting from intimate violence.) When is society going to realize intimate violence makes victims of us all?
