St. Charles, Ill. - The former boyfriend of an Aurora woman stabbed to death on Halloween in 2007 has been convicted of her brutal murder.
Hezekiah Hamilton of Joliet was convicted Thursday after a bench trial, according to Kane County State's Attorney's office spokesman Chris Nelson.
Hamilton was charged with the Oct. 30, 2007, murder of 25-year-old Brenetta Beck.
Prosecutors claimed Hamilton was enraged about being ordered to make child support payments for the children he had with Beck. She had given birth to Hamilton's second child just 10 days before she was murdered.
"This crime was indicative of great anger and animosity toward (Brenetta)," State's Attorney John Barsanti said during closing arguments Wednesday.
Nothing was taken from the apartment, and there was no sign of forced entry pointing to an intruder, authorities said.
