KILLEEN (January 2, 2013)—Police Wednesday identified the Killeen man
who shot and wounded his wife during a domestic dispute on New Year’s
Eve and then killed himself as Matthews Fredrick Brooks, Jr., 65.
The name of the 54-year-old woman, who remains in critical
condition at Scott & White Hospital in Temple, has not been
released.
Then incident happened just before noon Monday at 2801 Lavender Ln. in Killeen.
Police received a 911 call from the woman who told the operator her husband had just shot her.
While officers were en route to the home, they learned that the woman’s husband had also shot himself.
They found the woman on the front porch of the house and
the man dead in a bedroom of what evidently was a self-inflicted gunshot
wound, police said.
The woman was taken to Carl R. Darnall Army Medical Center and then was transferred to Scott & White.
