A 56-year-old man shot and killed his 53-year-old wife and then shot and killed himself Saturday night after a fight on the side of the road, police officials said.
The bodies of Hector A. Torres and Maria G. Torres, who were married but separated, were found Saturday evening on the side of South Houghton Road near East Escalante Road, after reports of a fight in that area, Tucson Police said in a press release.
Citizens tried to intervene and several people called 911 at 5:50 p.m. to report the fight between the two, police said.
Hector Torres left the area, but returned with a rifle and shot Maria Torres multiple times, police said. He then turned the gun on himself, taking his life, police said.
The fight began at a residence near 10200 E. Falcon Point Drive, police said.
