Chad A. Zenegas was identified Monday as the Auburn man who was fatally shot, allegedly by his girlfriend's husband, last week, according to the King County Medical Examiner's Office.

Zenegas, 32, died from a gunshot wound to the chest and his death was ruled a homicide, according to death investigators.

At 3:06 p.m. Thursday, a woman called 911 to report that her boyfriend had been shot in the chest by her husband inside a home in the 1100 block of Southeast 315th Street, said Sgt. Dave Colglazier, a spokesman for the Auburn Police Department. Officers arrived and found the man dead from a gunshot wound, he said.

The woman provided police with the name of the suspected gunman, who had fled the scene in his vehicle, Colglazier said. About 20 minutes after the woman's 911 call, officers stopped the man in the 1100 block of Southeast Fourth Street and took him into custody, he said.

Dan Donohoe, a spokesman for King County Prosecutor Dan Satterberg, said prosecutors expect to file a homicide charge against the 43-year-old suspect by Wednesday.
