A Franklin County grand jury decided Monday there is enough evidence to hold a trial for a Hardy man accused of killing his wife.
Philip Kingery, 48, was indicted on charges of first-degree murder and use of a firearm in a felony in connection with his wife's death in June.
State police found Rose Kingery's body on June 29 in a barrel in a shed next to the couple's Coopers Cove Road home. She had been shot.
Juvenile and Domestic Relations Court Judge Sarah Rice sent the case to the grand jury for consideration after hearing from numerous witnesses last month.
Kingery's father said he saw his son coming from the shed on the afternoon of June 29 and a neighbor said that same afternoon he heard a gunshot and a woman screaming, "No."
Kingery's case has now been moved to Circuit Court, but a court date has not been scheduled.

A compilation of daily news articles from around the United States about deaths (including both people and animals) that appear to occur in the context of a past or present intimate relationship, focusing on 2009-present. (NOTE: this blog is limited to incidents that appear in the media and are captured by our search terms. We recognize this is not an exhaustive portrayal of all deaths resulting from intimate violence.) When is society going to realize intimate violence makes victims of us all?
