DAVIE
A woman whose body was found in her home Wednesday morning was shot dead by her husband, who then turned the gun on himself, Davie police said today.
Officers found the bodies of Marilyn Ann Mass, 57, and Jerold Hoffer, 65, at about 10:30 a.m. in the 2800 block of Morning Glory Lane. They'd been dead since Monday, authorities said.
According to police, Hoffer shot Mass in the head while she was in the kitchen cooking dinner. He then went to the family room and shot himself in the head, said police spokesman Sgt. Rob Choquette.
Mass had served Hoffer with divorce papers in September, Choquette said.
Relatives had asked police to stop by the home because they hadn't heard from the pair since Monday.
A compilation of daily news articles from around the United States about deaths (including both people and animals) that appear to occur in the context of a past or present intimate relationship, focusing on 2009-present. (NOTE: this blog is limited to incidents that appear in the media and are captured by our search terms. We recognize this is not an exhaustive portrayal of all deaths resulting from intimate violence.) When is society going to realize intimate violence makes victims of us all?
