A former city cop shot his estranged college-professor wife five times because he was angry over being fired after she had him arrested for following her, police said yesterday.
While fleeing the shooting, the suspect, Darryl Fowler, 43, of Amityville, LI, sideswiped the ambulance on the way to help his wife, Michelle, 46, and then crashed into a tree. They were both taken to the same hospital, and are expected to recover.
The Tuesday night shooting came on the same day that the suspect was canned from working as a test proctor at Suffolk County Community College, where she's a professor and administrator.
A compilation of daily news articles from around the United States about deaths (including both people and animals) that appear to occur in the context of a past or present intimate relationship, focusing on 2009-present. (NOTE: this blog is limited to incidents that appear in the media and are captured by our search terms. We recognize this is not an exhaustive portrayal of all deaths resulting from intimate violence.) When is society going to realize intimate violence makes victims of us all?
