SACRAMENTO—
"This is so sad."
"That's just awful."
Students at American River College, saddened that 22-year-old Paimana Khanjar was allegedly stabbed to death by her fiance last weekend, while in India.
Police arrested her 26-year-old fiance, Omid Hussain Khill, for the crime, as he reportedly tried to board a plane back to his home in Afghanistan.
According to the Hindustan Times, a newspaper in New Delhi police said this was a crime of passion and that Khanjar was killed for trying to break her engagement.
"Really said. Just really sad. Feel sorry for the family," student Jennifer Peet said.
"Just knowing that something like that could happen to somebody who went to my school... It's just so sad," added fellow student Megan Scheiza.
Khanjar began her studies at the college in 2008, and was on the waiting list for a psychology class this semester.
"I think it's a tragedy because obviously she was broadening her horizons," student Jackie Beverly said.
"It's too bad," Peet added. "A life cut short."
