YAKIMA - A Grandview man was sentenced to 23 years in prison Friday for the 2009 of killing of his girlfriend Chelsie Stoneking.
Heriberto Saucedo pleaded guilty to first-degree murder.
Prosecutors say Saucedo killed his girlfriend on December 20, 2009 after she told him she was pregnant and that he might be the father.
In the attack, she was strangled and stabbed at least 57 times on top of receiving blunt trauma to the head.
It was determined later that she wasn't pregnant.
Prosecutors say Stoneking's young child was in another room when she was killed.
A deadly weapon enhancement charge was dropped in this case, which did not go before a jury.
Chelsie Stoneking was 16 years old. Saucedo was 17.
