Winter Park, FL: Man Shoots and Killed Family Dog

Winter Park- Patricia Davis says she is distraught, after watching Pepper, her three year old Jack Russell Terrier die before her very eyes.
"I can’t even stand it because I really love my dog. I really loved that dog. It’s just hurting.” Davis said.
Davis says she was on the stairs in front of her apartment, Lee Road, when 24 year old Brendan Griffin walked by and caught the attention of Pepper who followed him, but after he turned the corner at this breezeway, Pepper’s owner heard a gunshot, and ran to see what happened.
"She fell down, and rolled over and she was like, gasping." She says she saw the shooter run away into the next building, but she scooped up Pepper and took him to the animal hospital, where he died.
Patricia called police and gave a description of the shooter. Griffin was arrested on four charges including, discharging a weapon in a public place and animal cruelty, for shooting a dog that police say just wanted to get a sniff of the stranger.
Police say that Griffin wasn't even supposed to have a gun. Griffin is a convicted felon with a lengthy criminal history.
