A murder, suicide investigation proved too much to handle for a small Randolph County police department.
At first glance, Court Street in Cuthbert looks like a quiet road running through a small Georgia town; however the town has found itself in the middle of a state murder investigation.
Police were dispatched to a home on Court Street in Cuthbert in Randolph County to investigate a shooting. However they soon discovered that they needed some help.
Upon arrival at the scene, Cuthbert police along with the Georgia Bureau of Investigations discovered the body of Sabrina Bellamy who according to police was suffering from multiple gunshot wounds and pronounce dead on scene. Police say witnesses told them that Dextrell Williams killed Bellamy and fled the house on a bicycle.
Williams then called Chief Wiggins to say that he was in a cemetery and would only come to the station with him.
That conversation lead Chief Wiggins to greenwood cemetery where Wiggins says Williams was waiting to turn himself in to police. However things did not go according to plan
According to Chief Wiggins it is not unusual to contact the GBI in murder cases like this.
Wiggins says GBI will continue to investigate and he hopes will determine a possible motive soon.
Chief Wiggins adds he knew Williams from previous arrests. He also says it was no secret Williams and Bellamy likely had been in an abusive relationship.
