A 69-year-old San Jose man was run over and killed by his 67-year-old girlfriend as she drove away from his house following an apparent argument, according to police.
Police said the death of Li Jiang Wu on Sunday may have been an accident. But they expect to forward the case to the Santa Clara County District Attorney's office for a review.
Police were called to the 1600 block of Pala Ranch Circle at 10:16 a.m. to find Wu in the street with a major head injury.
The couple was reportedly arguing. The woman, who was not immediately identified by police, began to drive away in her 1992 Lexus. Wu tried to stop her, grabbed on to the "mirror area" and was pulled underneath the vehicle. The woman drove away.
Someone called the woman to tell her what had happened and to return, which she did, police said.
When she arrived, the woman was interviewed by police and then released.
Wu was pronounced dead at the hospital at 1:32 p.m.
