A compilation of daily news articles from around the United States about deaths (including both people and animals) that appear to occur in the context of a past or present intimate relationship, focusing on 2009-present. (NOTE: this blog is limited to incidents that appear in the media and are captured by our search terms. We recognize this is not an exhaustive portrayal of all deaths resulting from intimate violence.) When is society going to realize intimate violence makes victims of us all?

Ogallah, KS: Deaths ruled a murder-suicide by investigators
OGALLAH -- Investigators have determined the deaths of two Ogallah residents was a result of a murder-suicide, according to a statement released this morning by the Trego County Sheriff's office.
The Heartings were discovered in their Ogallah home when the sheriff's office was called to check on their welfare March 26.
As a result of an investigation by the sheriff's office and the Kansas Bureau of Investigation, it has been determined Susan G. Hearting, 51, died as a result of a gunshot wound inflicted by Duane E. Hearting, 56. He then died from a subsequent, self-inflicted gunshot wound, the release went on to say.
"The investigation will continue, but at this time, it does not appear that another person or persons were involved in either death," the statement reads.
