TUCSON - A man convicted of strangling his girlfriend, then burning her body and burying it in the Tucson desert has been sentenced to life in prison.
Pima County prosecutors say 39-year-old Eric Dewayne Hill was sentenced Monday and will be eligible for parole after serving 25 years.
Hill was found convicted in May of first-degree murder in the death of 21-year-old Angela Gayden. Authorities say she was killed on Jan. 4, 2008.
The Arizona Daily Star reported that Gayden's body was found burned and buried in a shallow grave near Interstate 10 and South Wilmot Road.
