A North Providence Police car is parked Wednesday morning at the site of the double shooting at an apartment complex at 27 Gillen Ave., North Providence.

NORTH PROVIDENCE, R.I. -- The North Providence police are investigating a double shooting that occurred around 3:15 a.m. Wednesday at 27 Gillen Ave., apartment 312B.

A preliminary investigation indicates it was a murder-suicide of a married couple, according to Maj. Paul M. Martellini. He named the people found in the apartment as Phandy Seth, 26, and his wife, Mindy Tartiff, 21.

Martellini said police responded to the house after receiving a call in the early morning. He would not give details about who called.

He said that Seth and Tartiff had been married for two or three years and did not appear to have children. There was no one else at the home at the time of the shooting, although a third person, a relative, lives at the house, he said.

Martelline said police are waiting for the results of the medical examiner to determine the cause of death for the couple.
