Stone Mountain, Ga. -- Two people were shot, including a DeKalb County police officer, and a suspect was killed at a standoff in Stone Mountain Monday night, police told CBS Atlanta.
The incident began at about 7:30 p.m. at an apartment complex on Chatfield Drive. Police said officers responded to a domestic violence call at one of the units.
When officers arrived, police said, an armed man came out and began firing at the officers. One officer was shot in the leg and was taken to Grady Hospital. Officers at the hospital told CBS Atlanta that the officer will be fine.
Officers shot and killed the man, investigators said. The man was not immediately identified.
Inside the apartment, police found a woman who had been shot, according to investigators. She was taken to Grady Hospital in critical condition.
Officers also found a child they believe belongs to the woman. The child was examined by paramedics at the scene. It was not known where the child was taken.
Neither the shooter's name nor the victims' names have been released.
