SUTTON -- An inmate at the Palmer Correctional Center killed himself Thursday afternoon, according to Alaska State Troopers.
Troopers responded to the facility about 4:30 p.m. and found that Willow resident Anthony Lee Willis, 47, hanged himself while in his cell, troopers said. There was no sign of foul play, according to troopers.
Court records indicate Willis was being held on misdemeanor domestic violence assault and interfering with a report of a domestic violence crime. His bail had been set at $2,500.
Troopers say the state medical examiner responded to the scene and Willis' family was notified.
A compilation of daily news articles from around the United States about deaths (including both people and animals) that appear to occur in the context of a past or present intimate relationship, focusing on 2009-present. (NOTE: this blog is limited to incidents that appear in the media and are captured by our search terms. We recognize this is not an exhaustive portrayal of all deaths resulting from intimate violence.) When is society going to realize intimate violence makes victims of us all?
