A 27-year-old Baton Rouge man was indicted Wednesday in the August strangling death of his former girlfriend.

An East Baton Rouge Parish grand jury charged Rodenno Dixon, 969 Monet Drive, with second-degree murder in the Aug. 21 slaying of 31-year-old Tarhonda Rhymes.

Baton Rouge police officers discovered Rhymes’ partially clothed body in the driveway of her apartment at 1220 N. 28th St.

Dixon, who was detained at the scene, was booked into Parish Prison on unrelated contempt of court warrants and has remained there ever since. He was booked Oct. 15 in Rhymes’ killing when her death was ruled a homicide.

A second-degree murder conviction carries a mandatory sentence of life in prison.

Dixon’s case is assigned to state District Judge Richard Anderson.
