A southwest Houston man remains behind bars after police said he
killed his wife and seriously injured his teenage stepson over the
weekend.
Lawrence Clinton Chambers, 40, was charged on Tuesday with murder and injury to a child, authorities said.
Detectives said he killed his wife, Jemal Lockridge Chambers, 43, and
seriously injured his 13-year-old stepson late Sunday at the family's
home in the 2800 block of Tidewater.
The woman's daughter became suspicious because her mother's car
wasn't in the driveway. She had a key and went inside, discovering her
mother's body and the boy in a bedroom, police said.
Jamal Chambers was pronounced dead at the scene. Her son was taken to Texas Children's Hospital in serious condition, police said.
