Austin, TX: APD arrests man accused of killing girlfriend

Austin police said they have arrested a man they say killed his girlfriend over the weekend.

An Austin Police Department spokesperson said that a Williamson County Deputy found a man slumped over in the driver’s seat of an SUV near a park.

Emergency personnel transported the man—later identified as 27-year-old Ryan Clarke—to a nearby hospital for injuries consistent with a suicide attempt.

It was in the hospital that Clarke admitted to a worker that he had hurt someone at the Lantana Ridge Apartments off of West William Cannon Drive.

On Sunday, police found the body of Clarke's girlfriend, 26-year-old Cassandra Clark, inside the couple's unit at the Lantana Ridge Apartments. Officers say she had obvious trauma over most of her body.

Travis County officials have charged Clarke with first degree murder. His bond is set at $100,000.
This is Austin's 32nd murder of the year.
