Houston police are sorting out the details of a very public, deadly shooting in north-west Houston that left two bodies lying in the street Thursday afternoon. It happened around 1:30 on Talina Way.

It's a bad start to 2010 for the family dealing with the fallout from what police are calling a murder-suicide.

Investigators say a man shot his wife in the driveway before taking his own life in the street outside their home.

"They've only known each other for a year," said police Investigator Phillip Guerrero.

Houston police said the couple in their mid-30s had only lived together for a month. A week ago the man started having problems and threatened suicide if his wife left him.

Investigators spent more than 4 hours on the scene interviewing family members to find out exactly what happened.

"There weren't any discussions or arguments today. He asked her to take him over to a location on I-10. When they came outside he started shooting at her, then walked over to his truck and shot himself," said Guerrero.

While family members stood by in shock, likely on their minds was the woman's 9-year-old daughter who lived with the couple. Police haven't sorted out what will happen to her.
