COTTONWOOD A Cottonwood couple is dead after a domestic disturbance Sunday evening in the 17000 block of Billy Jack Lane.
According to TCSD logs, Pamela Ann Vannoy, 51, called the Tehama County Sheriff's Department at 7:55 p.m. to report her husband, John Calvin Vannoy, 53, was at their residence trying to harm her.
While Pamela Vannoy was on the phone with the department, John Vannoy took the phone away from her and shots were fired.
We had the male half on the phone saying he shot his wife and then more shots were fired, said Sheriff Clay Parker.
The SWAT team was called out to the incident at 8:32 p.m. to ensure that the residence could be entered safely, Parker said.
We do not believe anyone else other than the two parties are involved, Parker said.
An investigation is ongoing and no further information was available.
A compilation of daily news articles from around the United States about deaths (including both people and animals) that appear to occur in the context of a past or present intimate relationship, focusing on 2009-present. (NOTE: this blog is limited to incidents that appear in the media and are captured by our search terms. We recognize this is not an exhaustive portrayal of all deaths resulting from intimate violence.) When is society going to realize intimate violence makes victims of us all?
