MILFORD, Mich. (myFOXDetroit.com) - A retired couple is found dead inside their home in Milford Township. Police are calling it a tragic murder-suicide. The couple's daughter discovered the bodies Sunday night.
Their house now sits empty. Joseph Valentino and his wife, Lucille, were found in two separate rooms apparently shot and killed. Police now know what lead to their deaths.
"The information that we have at this time, it appears the male did take his wife's life and then used the same weapon to take his own life," said Milford Police Lt. Tom Callahan.
Family had been trying to contact 61-year-old Joseph and his 60-year-old wife. When they couldn't, they drove to their home on Bristol Court on Sunday. They knew something wasn't right.
"They ended up having to force their way into the home. Inside, they found their parents unresponsive," Callahan said.
Police tell FOX 2 they have no record of any problems at their house.
"Something completely unexpected and... very, very devastating to the family," said Callahan.
The lieutenant in charge of the case says Joseph Valentino and his wife were both retired, and there was no note found inside the home
A compilation of daily news articles from around the United States about deaths (including both people and animals) that appear to occur in the context of a past or present intimate relationship, focusing on 2009-present. (NOTE: this blog is limited to incidents that appear in the media and are captured by our search terms. We recognize this is not an exhaustive portrayal of all deaths resulting from intimate violence.) When is society going to realize intimate violence makes victims of us all?
