SPOKANE COUNTY-- An animal rescue group out of western Washington was in Spokane county Tuesday offering a sizeable reward in an alleged criminal animal violence case.
Amber Chenoweth and several members of the private animal rescue organization Pasado's Safe Haven drove five hours from Western Washington to investigate what they called a violent attack on three cats.
Chenoweth says three weeks ago they got a call from the woman in the Tyler-Cheney area, who was in domestic violence situation. The woman claimed her partner made numerous threats against her and her pets. “She felt like she didn’t have any hope. She reached out to Pasado’s Safe Haven and asked for assistance in this case. She feared that her cats had been killed.”
Chenoweth says the cats were found dead and a necropsy revealed they had been shot.
Pasado’s came to Spokane County Tuesday to get the word out.
When media contacted local sheriff authorities and county animal cruelty investigators, they were stunned. Each said they had heard nothing about such a case.
Pasado’s posted flyers and is offering a $2,000 reward for information leading to an arrest.
