Somerville —
A Somerville man has been indicted in connection with the stabbing death of Sheila Dos Santos, 26, of Everett, according to a press release from Middlesex District Attorney Gerry Leone.
Antonio Marcos Ferreira, 38, was indicted late Thursday by a Middlesex Superior Court Grand Jury for first-degree murder. His arraignment date has not yet been set.
According to authorities, on Friday, Oct. 2, Everett Police responded to a 911 call, which had been made at 4:32 a.m. reporting a woman with multiple stab wounds. Police went to 154 Main St. in response to the call and discovered the victim, later identified as Dos Santos. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
Dos Santos was transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner and an autopsy was performed. Dos Santos’ death was ruled a homicide caused by multiple stab wounds.
Everett Police and Massachusetts State Police assigned to the Middlesex District Attorney’s Office commenced an investigation into the circumstances of the stabbing.
Based on that investigation, it is alleged that Ferreira stabbed the victim outside her apartment multiple times earlier in the morning. Ferreira and Dos Santos had a dating relationship, which Dos Santos had stopped several months before the homicide occurred, according to a press release.
Ferreira continued to pursue a dating relationship with Dos Santos, which she had rebuffed. It is alleged that Ferreira told the victim that if she was not going to date him, then she would not be able to date anyone. He is also alleged to have threatened to kill himself or her if she did not have a relationship with him.
Evidence has placed Ferreira in the vicinity of the murder at the time that it is alleged to have occurred. DNA evidence has also further connected Ferreira with the murder, the press release states.
Ferreira was arrested on Oct. 9 in Charlestown and charged with first-degree murder. He was arraigned on Oct. 13 in Malden District Court and ordered held without bail.
I was a Juror on this case. He was convicted of 1st degree murder yesterday.
ReplyDeleteI was haunted in my sleep last night by the brutal images and by the impact on the family and friends of the victim.
It is strange - while hearing evidence and deliberating I was quite detached and gave the defendant every consideration. It wasn't until I was driving home yesterday that I was slammed by the impact.
I wonder how long it will be until I can sleep soundly.....
