LAUREL HILL, N.C. — Scotland County authorities are searching for a person of interest in the stabbing deaths of a father and his daughter inside their home Wednesday evening.
Neighbors found the bodies of Arthur Wright, 77, and Tammy Wright, 48, in the home at 21800 Omah Hill Road, north of Laurel Hill, at about 5:30 p.m., Sheriff Shep Jones said.
He said it's unclear when they were killed.
Deputies were searching for Tammy Wright's live-in boyfriend, Steven Craig English, 43, who they said is a person of interest in the crime.
English is 6 feet 1 inch tall, weighs about 195 pounds, has blue eyes and blonde, brown and gray hair. He might have stolen Arthur Wright's blue 2004 Buick Century, Jones said.
Investigators haven't determined a motive for the slayings.
Neighbors said that Arthur Wright had a stroke and that his daughter was taking care of him.
They owned a local store, J.R. Grill and Grocery, at the corner of McFarland and Marston road, about four miles north of Laurel Hill.
Neighbor Kim Bridgeman described Arthur Wright as a good Christian man and said she had no idea why anyone would want to hurt him.
