MIAMI -
A woman's Facebook post moments before she was killed led police to the man suspected of killing her, another woman and 6-month-old boy, police said.
Miami-Dade police picked up Lineten Belizaire, 20, on Sunday.
Belizaire was arrested in connection with the deaths of Natasha Plummer, 25, her 6-month-old son, Carlton Stringer Jr. and Octavia Barnet, 21, who were found dead inside a Lauderdale Lakes apartment last week.
"The victims were found inside the apartment, victims of gunshot wounds," said Sgt. Dave Elwood, of the Broward Sheriff's Office.
Barnett’s 11-month-old son survived the incident.
"It's a very complicated case," said Broward County Sheriff Al Lamberti. "There's more interviews to take, more statements to take, and a lot of the details and the motive, we're not going to be able to release to you at this time."
Police said a Facebook posting by Octavia Barnet led them to Belizaire. According to police, Barnet posted that Belizaire was at her door and that she was scared.
"Octavia Barnet's last posting actually pointed to the suspect, and thankfully she did that because that one post on Facebook could be the thing that brings justice to this case," Lamberti said.
"There was no 911 call at that time. There was an entry on her Facebook page indicating he was at her door," Elwood said. "We believe that shortly after that post is when the incident occurred."
Police used the Facebook post during their investigation.
"I don’t know if that was her intention at the time. I don’t know if she had a feeling or some kind of premonition, but it definitely has become helpful in this case, extremely," Elwood said.
Officers arrested Belizaire in Miami-Dade County after following several tips from family members, who took him to a specific location and turned him over to police.
No bond has been granted to Belizaire, who is awaiting transfer to Broward County.
"It's not just about closure; it's about justice, bringing this suspect to justice," Lamberti said.
Belizaire has the same last name as the 11-month-old boy whose life was spared by the killer. Lineten Belizaire's name is on the child's birth certificate.
Belizaire is a graduate of Northwestern Senior High School, class of 2009. He was a standout, highly recruited cornerback for the Bulls.
